North East | For Him - gift guide at Silverlink

#AD I am pleased to say I am collaborating with Silverlink shopping park in December with a Christmas gift guide for Him. I do always find shopping for the men in my life a little more challenging than the girls so take a look if you want to some present ideas that you could pick up at your local retail park like Silverlink, North Tyneside.
The Silverlink is just off the A19 near the Tyne Tunnel with a wide selection of shops for clothing, tech and homewares. There is also an odeon cinema, selection of restaurants and M&S food/cafe.

I headed over there last month with my shopping partner in crime, Kayleigh (Girl in the Burberry scarf) to see what we could find. Kayleigh is also contributing to the digital magazine with some ideas to make your home sparkle over the next few weeks and beyond. Head over to the Silverlink’s new Christmas pages to find out more.

Wishing you all a happy and sparkly festive season!  Kristina x  This is a sponsored post with Silverlink

Brunch at The Wild Plum, Harrogate

Brunch has to be one of my favourite meals to go out for and this place has to be one of the best. With 5k followers on instagram and no reservations, its a roulette if you are going to have to queue long to get a table at The Wild Plum, Harrogate.

I went during the week and still had to wait but it wasn't for long and it was all part of the experience. The Wild Plum is based above a successful luxury womens boutique, Snooty Frox 1.5miles outside of Harrogate centre.

On my first visit I went with my bestie Kayleigh and we had a hard time deciding what we wanted to order. I chose the 'eggs every way' scrambed with a side of bacon (how pretty!), Kayleigh chose the 'smashed avacado' with Yorkshire Halloumi.

You wont have a problem finding something to order, there is something for everybody.  If you browse the instagram account you can see pictures of the famous pancakes, delicious waffles and lots of other snacks and lunch choices.

I also ordered a berry smoothie bowl to try which was so refreshing - it wasn't just the taste and presentation of my order that I enjoyed, it was the atmosphere and welcoming staff.

It's not just what is on the menu to choose from there was also a full counter of cakes to try. There was absolutely no way we were going to be able to eat a slice, so we ordered a little lemon polenta cake  to share while we had another coffee before hitting the road.

I would prefer it if I could reserve a table but I think first come first serve is becoming popular right now and if you really want to go, you need to wait in the queue. It is worth it!

Can you believe the presentation?! Every dish comes out so beautifully decorated!

Due to the popularity of the restaurant it is currently closed for a refurbishment and promises to reopen on Wednesday 4 September with an all new 'vibrant and innovative' dining experience and layout with increased seating and being able to see into the kitchen so you can spy on the chef's creating the amazing menu.

Head Chef,  Bethany Haresign was recently crowned 'Chef of the year' at the Harrogate Hospitality and Tourism Awards and is very passionate about creating such a fresh and instagrammable menu.

I am really looking forward to my next visit to see the Wild + Restyled space!

Opening hours from 4th September are 9.30am - 4pm Tuesday to Saturday

Lunch at The Ivy, Harrogate

The Ivy chain of restaurants is taking over the UK. It's always been on my wish list to go for lunch at Covent Garden and to have Whispering Angel wine poured at my table in a giant bottle. But it seems it's no longer a trip to London that is needed, I can just pop to my local branch in York, Harrogate and Leeds. Where they offer a similar menu.

I visited the  The Ivy, Harrogate last June, and probably another 6 times since then across the other local branches. It’s super easy to book at table using the Open Table App and if you change your mind you can just access your booking and cancel. I think this part is really important, some places make it so difficult to get booked in and I have never once had an issue so far.

It was a Saturday afternoon when we arrived 40 mins early for our table, so we asked if it was possible to sit at the bar until it was time, it wasn't a problem, we were shown straight to the bar to take a seat. The bar was beautiful surrounded by glasses and of course that giant bottle of Whispering Angel was chilling on ice in a copper bucket. I said to the girls, yasss we need a glass

We were taking in all the beautiful decor when we spotted a gorgeous table right in the heart of the restaurant, it was beaming in the sunshine as it had a glass roof above then surrounded by blooms. We were so pleased when we found out that was going to be our table.

We each had 3 courses from the main menu, which was the seasonal summer menu.
For my starter, I ordered the burrata with sliced peaches, almonds, pesto and olives, it was so delicious and so beautifully presented.

I was surprised at the traditional choices on the menu like fish & chips or cottage pie, but I decided to try the Truffle chicken sandwich topped with an egg and fries.

We were so full but the dessert menu sounded so delicious so we still ordered, I had the lemon and basil baked Alaska, it was quite savoury considering it was a dessert but it was light and fluffy meringue and so beautifully presented. But the star of the dessert show was what Kirsty ordered the chocolate bombe, presented at the table then the waiter poured over a hot sauce and the chocolate shell melted!

It isn't cheap to eat here, but you don't have to opt for 3 courses, and there is a set menu if you wanted to choose from a smaller selection compared to the main menu. With drinks and 3 courses, we each spent around £60 a head. This is due to the Whispering Angel or cocktails costing around £9 each.

Pizza on the beach

Last Tuesday night, I was living #pizzagoals by having pizza on the beach with my friend Ailey.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1bYgF4g5UGKLWiI3lcUC414KwcSU8EESR

I’ve been work tripping to Poole, Dorset for 5 years so I know my way round and my friends introduce me to the best places. Baffi Pizza has to be one of my favourite places to get a slice.

We ordered to takeout from the one at Canford Cliffs so then it was only 3 mins in the car to Branksome chine beach which has a little car park. Bonus as well that on a Tuesday this branch does by one get one free on collections.

After parking up we found a little spot in the sun and there was only one pesky seagull trying his luck.

Epic pizza is so hard to find so I highly recommend giving Baffi a try if you are nearby one of the branches. I ordered #4, Parma ham, cherry tomatoes, ricotta, rocket, tomato, mozzarella & basil, usually £11.80 - Ailey ordered #6 ham, mushrooms, artichokes, black olives, tomato, mozzarella, parmesan & basil usually £13.90

After a while there was no sun left, so we walked off the delicious pizza with a walk along the prom towards Bournemouth. Some really cute beach huts along there.

Naan bread for breakfast at Dishoom

I love eating out, its one of my favourite things to do, especially on a weekend. Which means I am always trying to find a new place to go. December is so busy and goes by so fast meeting up with everyone when possible, my friends were visiting from Singapore so we met for a yummy breakfast in Manchester.

They always know the cool places to go and suggested one of their London favourites, Dishoom which had recently opened on Dec 6th. I had no idea what to expect, but as soon as I set foot in the door, the fragrance took me miles away to Bombay. I loved it, the incense scent was so welcoming and created an authentic atmosphere paired with the dark interiors.

The menu was varied, but Stephanie recommended the breakfast naan so that was a must, but we wanted to order a few more things to try, so it was hard to choose what.

The date and banana porridge sounded so good (and refillable) but we thought it might be too much when we wanted to try other things, so we ordered -
> The big bombay breakfast
> 2 Breakfast naan
> Side of Marsala beans
> House Granola with coconut yoghurt

They don't do a breakfast menu for kids, but we were able to make sure the little one found something he would enjoy. However they do a kids menu for during the day and evening.

What is the Breakfast naan?
Freshly baked naan bread from the tandoor oven, filled with cream cheese, chilli tomato jam and fresh herbs then I opted for the smoked Bacon with mine. Loved it!

I can't wait to return to try the day menu, but I highly recommend it as a fresh new flavour to enjoy breakfast.

Visit Dishroom in Manchester - or there is 6 other branches in Edinburgh or London.

Breakfast is served from 9am to 11.45am on weekends and earlier during the week.

Let me know if you visit!
