North East | Shopping Challenge at Silverlink Shopping Park

Only 5 more days then it will be Christmas Day! It's only now I have finished work for the holidays I feel I can focus on preparing for the festive season!

Yesterday I met up with my lovely friend Kayleigh for some lunch and shopping at Silverlink Shopping Park, North Tyneside (near Newcastle).

We headed straight to the Marks and Spencer's cafe for an indoors picnic, we picked sandwiches to share, a slice of cake each from the counter and ordered our hot drinks. We wanted to make our festive lunch a little more special, so we unpackaged everything and set the scene for a little afternoon tea.

We absolutely loved the Turkey Feast sandwich and the Chocolate Orange marble bundt cake, it was so tasty and covered in gold glitter!

As bloggers on a day out of course there were some instagrams needed, and it was made even easier with the shopping park's free wifi, I don't think I have been able to do that on an outdoor retail park area before. All I had to do is register my email address and post code. This then automatically entered me into a competition to win £100 - 2 people will be selected today 20th and 3 on the 22nd December.

After lunch we decided to set a £30 winter / festive shopping challenge where we would need to treat ourselves on a budget. I am not usually one to stay within a budget so this was going to be interesting. With a mix of shops, we stuck to the fashion and beauty stores - H&M and River Island situated near Marks and Spencers then on the other side of the car park, there is Boots, Outfit and New Look plus a large Next store only 5 minutes walk away.

H&M and River Island had some great items in for Christmas, full of glitter and colour. The River Island oversized cardigan has been flying out in all colours but that was out of budget in today's challenge, plus I have a new chunky cardigan to share with you in the New Year from Mums handmade that I have recently purchased from Greece.

What did I get?
Festive red sweater from H&M for £9
knitted hairband from H&M for £4.99
Metal star lights from M&S for £12.50
Green and red Bauble for my Christmas tree £2
Seasonal scented candle £3.50
Total spend = £31.95

Visit Kayleigh's on instagram to see what she bought.

I am really pleased with my haul and I was quite surprised how many discounts were already in the shops. I did see a coat in Warehouse (within Outfit) which was 20% off which I didn't get but I am still thinking about...I may need to go back.

Silverlink Shopping Park is situated near the Tyne Tunnel, it was 15 minutes from Durham by car using the A19 and going through the tunnel. It has a Nando's, Cinema as well as a mix of stores including electrical, household and fashion.

I think this is where I confess that I am not finished with my Christmas shopping and I better stop buying things for myself. oops.

  1. Wow well done - I'd definitely struggle with a £30.00 budget, as soon as I'm let lose I go crazy!
